Found I had mice about 8 weeks ago. At first the trap was catching them but now nothing! I can hear the mice in the house but how can they have learned not to take the bait from the trap?
What do I do? I don't want these 'Guests'Why have the mice lost interest in the mousetrap?
mice loose interest after some weeks in the mouse trap because every living organisms have a mind which takes some time to understand things since the mind of the mouse is not as develop as ours at first the mouse trap seems new interesting thing for them but after some days they realize that this thing is harmful 4 us since some of our friend are lost because of this and finally they create a thought in their mind which is against the mouse trap. so i thing so u should do something else to get rid of these mice.u can use poisonous eatable things 4 them. Why have the mice lost interest in the mousetrap?
you should sit up all night with a net next to the mousetrap and when the mouse comes close enough just get it, obviously don't make any noise
I always thot the 2nd mouse got the cheese!
Youv'e got to spice up the bait a bit..they are getting bored with the same old food..try a nice piece of camenbert with grapes or a delicious melted stilton surprise
maybe they learned that it kills them. buy one in another shape.
Change the bait on the mousetrap, try putting something like a milkyway as they love sweet stuff.
maybe they can smell the blood of previous victims, give it a good scrub, and change bait, cheese is excellent.
mice hate cheese, it is a well known fact that only 2/10 mice in the world got/get caught in mouse-traps with cheese in them.
they learn from ones that have gone before them
They never really liked cheese - they want chocolate or sweet cereal!
try using something different on the traps chocolate is a good alternative mice like choc.....
answers as above...........but try rubbing a bit of cheese over the trap itself to hide the smell of your hands. The extra cheessey smell also helps to bring in the mice to the trap. You could try putting the traps out unset for a night or two so that the mice get over confident as it were.
If they are taking the bait then you are not setting the trap properly.
Animals do get trap smart. Try a different trap design. Try a different bait. Peanut butter is fine, but try just spreading a little on a little ball of bread set on the trap. Don't place the trap in the same spot every time.
