Whats wrong with feeding live mice to a red tailed boa?

everyone is saying that its a bad idea. Why?Whats wrong with feeding live mice to a red tailed boa?
Dont listen to anyone, my family has owned snakes for over 10 years now. My red tail boas get adult size live rats.

All you need to do, is throw the rat/mouse in the tank.

Sit, and watch. As soon as the snake has a coil on the rat/mouse,

which means when it wrapps around it's food .

You should take some feeding tongs, and if the mouse/rat is anywhere close to being able to reach the snake as in being able to bite it, just

take the feeding tongs and put in on the corner of the the mouse/rats

mouth so instead of biting the snake it will just bite the feeding tongs.

Good Luck !Whats wrong with feeding live mice to a red tailed boa?
feedin a live rodent in a viv or tank is completely differnet to feeding in the wild.

in the wild if a snake strikes and misses (or doesnt strike at all) its likely the rodent will escape, where as in a home enclosure its has no escape, naturally the rodent will turn to defense, scratching, biting and using everything in its power to harm the snake even kill it.

this is a fact people who use the argument ';but there alive in nature'; never seem to grasp
There's nothing wrong with feeding live mice when they are being properly supervised...........accidents happen when mice are left in the cage unattended.

Live mice allow the snakes to exercise muscles in the appropriate way just like tey do in the wild.............the NEED to kill the prey by means of constriction is key for female snakes to sucessfully lay their clutch(s).........that or proper exercise.
I have had many snakes and i have also had many red tailed boas. there is nothing wrong with feeding your red tailed boa live mice. just watch them to make sure the mouse doesn't attack the snake... which doesn't happen very much. it just seems more natural to feed them live mice because that's what they would do in the wild, and i have never fed my snakes dead mice before.
Live rodents will try to defend themselves when they feel threatened - They will bite, scratch, and there's even stories and pictures of snakes who have had portions eaten or have been killed when left alone with their prey.

If you scroll down on this page there are a few pictures of snakes with injuries from live food(GRAPHIC!):
