What is your opinion on the book: Of Mice and Men?

what did you think of this book? posititive feedback only. how about the themes 'companionship vs. lonliness' or 'weakness vs. strength'?

details please! What is your opinion on the book: Of Mice and Men?
I teach this book, and my students ALL love it. It is well worth the read, and is so short, it is easy to do. The two themes you mention are a real part of middle and high school worlds- friends, family, lonliness... the strong and popular vs. the weak and marginalized- easy for the students to find something to relate with in the message. The relationship between Lenny and George is simply compelling- students get it. They love George for taking care of Lenny and they love Lenny because he is so child-like and in many ways (ironically) innocent. I am always amazed that a book about The Depression can still appeal to modern students in the 21st century! What is your opinion on the book: Of Mice and Men?
This book depicts a great picture of the devastating reality of human nature. The society in the setting of the book heavily emphasizes individualism, or ';every man for himself.'; The true meaning of this theme is revealed at the very end of the book. When George had his companion, Lennie, he felt unique and above all other men. However, when he kills Lennie, he is willing to sacrifice his dreams, pride, and hope in order to continue living on. George's character grows weaker and more conservative as the plot progresses. After being constantly pressured by the other ranchers, he begins to neglect his inseparable bond with Lennie. This dwindling trust eventually causes George to let go of his friend and experience the harsh reality of life.
